- Ochna jabotapita Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 1: 513. 1753. "Habitat in India, β in Africa, γ in America." RCN: 3865. Replaced synonym of: Ochna squarrosa L. (1762), nom. illeg. Lectotype (Robson in Taxon 11: 49. 1962): Herb. Hermann 1: 52, No. 209, left specimen (BM-000621408). Generitype of Ochna Linnaeus. Current name: Ochna jabotapita L. (Ochnaceae). Note: In 1762, Linnaeus restricted the use of this name to the var. γ, thereby excluding the type. This 1762 name is therefore a later homonym, but has been chosen as the lectotype of Gomphia Schreb. (see Taxon 43: 91. 1994).
