  • Hedysarum triflorum Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 2: 749. 1753. "Habitat in India." RCN: 5526. Lectotype (Fawcett & Rendle, Fl. Jamaica 4: 38. 1920; Pedley in Turland & Jarvis in Taxon 46: 472. 1997): Herb. Hermann 1: 21, No. 297 (BM-000594452). Current name: Desmodium triflorum (L.) DC. (Fabaceae: Faboideae). Note: Schubert (in J. Arnold Arbor. 44: 293. 1963), followed by many other authors, indicated Herb. Linn. No. 921.45 (LINN) as the lectotype, but this cannot be regarded as relevant original material because Linnaeus’ annotation of the sheet lacks the Species Plantarum number (i.e. “25”). Fawcett & Rendle (Fl. Jamaica 4: 38. 1920) indicated material in Herb. Hermann (BM) as the lectotype which, although distributed between several volumes, appears to have been part of a single gathering. Consequently, theirs is accepted as the first typification (Art. 9.15), with the choice subsequently restricted by Pedley.
