Current name: Cystoseira foeniculacea (L.) Grev. (Cystoseiraceae). Note: Goodenough & Woodward (in Trans. Linn. Soc. 3: 135. 1797) noted and discussed the material in LINN, and Roberts (in Brit. Phycol. Bull. 3: 548. 1968) provided a photograph of the type material.
