- Fucus discors Linnaeus, Systema Naturae, ed. 12, 2: 717. 1767. RCN: 8331. Neotype (Roberts in J. Linn. Soc., Bot. 60: 252. 1968): Herb. Linn. No. 1274.21, left specimen (LINN). Current name: Cystoseira foeniculacea (L.) Grev. (Cystoseiraceae). Note: The material treated as the type by Roberts is annotated only by Linnaeus filius, rather than his father, and there must be some doubt as to whether this is original material for the name. However, in the absence of any other original material, this collection is accepted as a neotype (Art. 9.8).
