- Genus Ophiothrix Müller & Troschel, 1840 Type species. Ophiothrix pentaphylla (Pennant, 1777) = O. fragilis (Abildgaard in Müller, 1789). Diagnosis. Disc (interradial regions) covered by spines or granules with small thorns at their tips and/or along their length; radial shields naked or with similar coverage as disc; arm spines translucent and denticulate; no oral papillae (Clark 1966; Santana et al. 2017).
