  • This article discusses the challenges of Nursing Professionals (Nurses, Technicians and Nursing Assistants) while on the front line against COVID-19 in Brazil. Critically, we highlight the infection and mortality data of these professionals after seven months of the disease in the country, elucidating a sad reality: Brazil is the country in which most nursing professionals die by COVID-19. It is recognized that the data may still suffer underreporting, which can aggravate the situation. Faced with the impasses of the federal government, especially in the figure of the President, with a face of the necropolitical government, which has imposed a false dilemma between "lives" and "economy", neoliberal logic has put lives at stake, with the balance somewhat negative and unfavorable. Thus, the moment is essential to think about how nursing workers have presented themselves in this pandemic, in order to rethink living conditions, working conditions and directions, in addition to rethinking the health system and ways to cope with future epidemics and pandemics.
