- As eleições municipais de 2020, no Brasil, acontecem em uma conjuntura de muitas dificuldades. Além da inesperada pandemia da COVID-19, há a recessão econômica decorrente, com as implicações políticas de afastamento da possibilidade de afirmação das teses do Estado mínimo, substituídas pelas necessidades de transferência direta de recursos na forma de Auxílio Emergencial para a população sem vínculos empregatícios. A consequência das mudanças políticas do governo federal refletiu-se em alta de popularidade governamental, que poderia repercutir nos resultados eleitorais, mas a decisão de apresentar uma reforma administrativa retirando o preceito constitucional da estabilidade dos servidores públicos tende a mobilizar uma forte reversão dessa tendência, além de repercutir em mudanças nas organizações partidárias a partir do próximo ano, em função de mudanças na legislação eleitoral, pela extinção das coligações partidárias em eleições proporcionais. The 2020 municipal elections in Brazil take place at a time of many difficulties.
