- Hospital nutrition in Poland is often of poor quality. Even though the problem has been known for at least the last 10 years and a number of governmental agencies have intervened with the Ministry of Health in order to change the laws regarding that problem, no steps have been taken. Low quality hospital nutrition was proved to be linked with lower treatment effectiveness, higher mortality, increased length of stay and costs. The article argues that hospital nutrition adequate to current medical knowledge is a patient’s right and a hospital might be liable for any infringement caused by improper nutrition and any harm done by it.
