- Genus Neophrissospongia Pisera & Lévi, 2002 Definition (emended from Pisera and Lévi, 2002) Cup-shaped, ear-shaped, plate-shaped growth form. Ectosomal skeleton with radially arranged dichotriaenes with tubercled to less frequent smooth cladomes and from smooth to tubercled/spiny rhabdomes. Sub-ectosomal spicules as asterose microscleres (streptaster/amphiaster) and relatively large style-like monaxons. Choanosomal skeleton as a relatively loose network of dicranoclone desmas.
