- High traffic accidents rate is one of the transportation problems in Makassar. Therefore, this study aims to determine the severity characteristics of traffic accidents and to identify accident prone locations in Makassar City using Upper Control Limit (UCL)method. The results showed that victims of male sex, double collision, motorcycle vehicle, driver, road accident and side-impact collision are the dominant variable affecting the severity of traffic accidents. Based on rationalization value of Equivalent Accident Number (EAN) that is weight for victim who suffered death by 10, serious injuries equal to 2,25, for minor injuries equal to 1,95 and 0,8 for having material loss. By using UCL method in Makassar City there are three road segments that are identified as accident-prone locations with the EAN value higher than UCL value. The three streets are PerintisKemerdekaan,UripSumiharjo, and A.P. Pettarani.
