- Local elections have a great importance for the establishment of local authorities. The ability of citizens to get involved in the process of establishing local public authorities and to participate in local decision-making process are the essential elements of the contemporary democratic state. The particular circumstances of the general local elections from October, 20, 2019, were examined in the Cahul District Electoral Constituency. In particular, were studied the characteristics of the electoral contest for the position of mayor of Cahul.
