- One of the most challenging application areas for 5G is the smart energy vertical. This includes developing Advanced Metering Infrastructures (AMI), device auto configuration procedures, Demand Response (DR) strategies, and preventive maintenance of the electrical network. The NRG-5 project examines the requirements of the smart energy vertical and develops enabling solutions for the 5G. Results from the project are validated at two test sites over real energy infrastructures (including both electricity and gas equipment). This paper proposes an overview of the ongoing pilot campaign, detailing the three use cases under validation and
