- Abstract: The factors of the epidemiological chain of Food Security and the changes in “Sustainable Livelihoods, MVS” in the localities of the municipalities of San Martín Hidalgo, Teuchitlán and Tala in the state of Jalisco, Mexico, are analyzed in the context of transformations of the mode of production at Microcuenca La Primavera-Presa de la Vega in recent decades. A cross-sectional analytical design is applied based on the quantitative paradigm. The results of the research show how localities have gone through a process of transformation in the Mode of production that reflects the current situation, where self-consumption of cereals, legumes, fruits and vegetables, combined with animal husbandry using sustainable technology happened to be a Mode of production where rice, maize and sugar cane cultivation predominates through intensive methods with invasive technologies, which has implications for the dimensions of food security and sustainable livelihoods. The sustainability variables of the food productions mode in localities are deteriorated and affect the sustainable life of the territory related to natural, physical, financial and human MVS’s capitals.
