- This tool is a *dependency solver* for portage. [Portage](https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Portage) is the package manager of the [gentoo](https://www.gentoo.org/) linux distribution. A dependency solver for a package manager solves a dependency problem, i.e., deciding, given a set of package the user wants to install, which other packages to install so all dependencies between packages are satisfied.
