- It is a challenge to run a smaller, self-sufficient family organic farm surrounded by intensively farmed agricultural lands. This case study is an example of the fact that installing and maintaining hedges and windbreaks around the property is labor-intensive, but provides protection as well as profit through proper planning and management.
