- Objective:- The objective was to determine the frequency of operative delivery among primigravida with obesity presenting to the tertiary care hospital. Study Design:- A cross-sectional study Setting:- Gynaecology Unit -I Jinnah Hospital Lahore Method and Patient:- For a period of six months from 1st January 2016 to 30th June 2016. 140 primigravidas with obesity presenting with labor and fulfilling the inclusion criteria were enrolled in the study. BMI was calculated on the basis of weight measured in 8 to 12 weeks of gestation and these women were followed comparing their modes of delivery. Results: Operative delivery was done in 53(37.86%) women while 87(62.14%) women had normal vaginal delivery. There were 7(13.21%) who had forceps delivery 13(24.53%) vacuum assisted delivery and 33(62.26%) women had lower segment caesarean sections. Conclusion: - In this study it was concluded that a high frequency of operative deliveries are observed in obese women i.e. 36%. C-section was the leading operative delivery followed by vacuum assisted delivery in obese women.
