- The specific character of the development and peculiarities of white and black colours perception in Yurgis Baltrushaitis` and Marina Tsvetaeva`s poetic world is taken into consideration in the article. It is shown that white colour is considered to be one of the most frequent in use in Baltrushaitis` creative activity. It is proved that white colour is used in the poetry connected with the idea of Messiah`s coming and the problem of spiritual search of a person. White co-lour is also considered to be the characteristic of supernatural world and Higher Forces. Black colour is associated with the theme of the way and the idea of spiritual revival necessity. It is shown that opposition white-black in Tsvetaeva`s poetic world is characterized by diversity of meanings. The use of white colour may be connected with the tradition of the Russian literature of XVIII-XIX centuries, in which white had a sign of holiness or pointed at the belongingness to the Saints. White colour may also have a negative meaning and may mean something trivial, dull or empty. In Tsvetaeva`s poetic world words naming colours may interrelate with each other and cause the creation of a dynamic image. Black colour may be also associated with something negative, scary or dangerous what corresponds to the conventional perception of this colour. In Tsvetaeva`s creative work black may acquire a positive meaning. Black is connected with the concept of life completeness. It is viewed as something close and clear for a person. White is a characteristic of a mysterious world, distant and cold.
