Theconsiderationofurban flooding asaproblemcausedbyexcesswaterthatcanbeharvestedandre- used isexpectedtoprovideacomprehensiverepresentationofawater-energynexusforfutureurbanareas. ThestudycomprisesanoptimizationofenergyrecoveryinSUDSofasmalldistrictareaofLisbondown-town throughtheuseofalow-headhydropowerconverter. Thestatus-quosolutionbasedonabasincatchmentfor theaverageexpectedrunoffisanalysed,with influence ofthetidalbackwatereffectof the AtlanticOceanwhichcausesdifficulties tothedrainageofexcess flow.Themethodologyusedtoreachthe flowdampingandtheoptimizedsolutionforenergyproductionis presented.
