- Hydrodynamic study of gas and solid flow in an internally circulating fluidized bed (ICFB) is made in this paper using Eulerian-Elerian two fluid model incorporated with KTGF. Simulations run at various experimental conditions like bed heights variation, gap height at 10.5 cm-14.5 cm. In addition to that Experiments were conducted using different sized sand particles. At each run, the pressure drop curves for both draft tube and down comer section of beds and the moving wall particles velocity in the annular bed region were measured by pressure probes and high speed camera with respectively. The effect of superficial gas velocity, static bed height (50 & 60 cm) and the draft tube gap height (10.5 & 14.5 cm) on pressure drop profiles, solid circulation pattern, and gas bypassing dynamics for the ICFB investigated extensively. The mechanism of governing solid re circulation and the pressure losses in an ICFB has been eluded based on gas and solid dynamics obtained from the experimental data. 3D ICFB CFD simulation extracted data validated with ICFB experimental data.
