- This paper presents the efforts of the faculty of the Department of Architecture of the University of Nicosia to introduce principles of sustainability, as those pertain to the architecture and design, to an undergraduate, accredited program of architectural studies. Sustainability as a concept and as a practice is examined through a variety of social, economic and environmental attributes, and is imparted to the students as a theoretical premise and as practical extension. The means by which sustainability is injected into the curriculum is the Sustainable Design Unit, the specifics of which are described, examined and evaluated in this paper.
