  • This article discusses the risk of tourism in the hotel and restaurant business. The expressive tendency of the tourist, hotel and restaurant business is the strengthening of the processes of integration, globalization, and as a consequence – the growth of the impact of corporate entities. The specifics of the functioning and development of tourist and hotel-restaurant business corporations are analyzed, which is important for determining the factors of competitiveness, development of strategies as separate subjects of the market and this sector of the economy as a whole. Enterprises in the tourist and hotel and restaurant business are constantly experiencing various risks and the task of any entrepreneur is to minimize the impact of these risks. The article mentions and highlights two cases that exist in the field of tourism. Namely: in the first case, a tourist who buys tourist services is at risk, and in the second case there is a risk of a travel company acting as an intermediary and obliged to provide food, accommodation and rest due to financial losses due to the occurrence risky circumstances. World science and practice has gained considerable experience in the classification of risks, processes and methods of risk management, etc. However, the identification of the main risks of the restaurant and tourism business in Ukraine, measures to minimize the risk of losses for the hospitality industry, taking into account the dynamic effects of the environment, remain unexplored. The article determines that one of the stages of reduction and minimization of risks is preceded by the stage of operational and timely identification of risks in the activity of the tourist enterprise. The rapid identification of hazards can be a guarantee of a successful and coordinated activity. As a result of the selected risks, we propose to use various insurance programs in the tourism sector. Directly mention and offer types of companies that exist in the Ukrainian insurance market and deal with insurance incidents in the tourism business. Risk management in the activities of the tourist enterprise should contribute to the achievement of the main goals of the elimination of threats and the search for chances. Risk assessment is an informational ground for choosing adequate management methods for it. Risk control allows you to limit potential losses and multiply the potential benefits that result from the implementation of risk. Risk management means not only knowing what it is but also identifying it, as well as giving it a quantitative and qualitative rating. But what exactly methods of risk management apply in their practice, the travel company should choose for itself. This provision is one of the most important conditions for the effective operation of the company in the tourism industry. The use of a wide range of risk management methods and techniques allows developing adequate response strategies and facilitates the more effective use of resources and the improvement of the competitive position of the tourist enterprise.
