  • The transformational processes of a modern society, which undergo all spheres of human life, constitute a global problem characterized by heterogeneity, multidimensionality and uncertainty in the future. The consequences of these changes are particularly acute in the young generation, being a witness to the transition from stability to reality, the fundamental basis of which is the experience of ambivalence. The problems associated with entry into adulthood push young people to choose: to accept or vice versa, to ignore the values of modern society. Values play an important role in life, because they create the moral basis of a person, which allows thinking logically, to influence the choice of the future and tolerates other people. In addition, values are one of the main factors shaping the quality of human life. The article reveals the meaning of such concepts as: "values", "system of values" and "quality of life" from the point of view of psychology, sociology and culture. Although there is no single definition of "value", however, in most cases, values can be considered subjectively when their evaluation depends on a particular person, or objectively, when the attitude to values is the result of the views and beliefs of a group of people. In addition, values stimulate and shape human consciousness, motivate activity, affect the activity goals, integrate people, and unite societies. In a democratic society, the choice of values is the issue of people's free choice, which means a change of views and beliefs. The higher the level of education of the population, the greater the chances of forming an appropriate attitude to values. In the process of research, general scientific methods were used such as (analysis, synthesis, comparison, comparison, generalization) for the purpose of studying pedagogical, sociological and cultural literature, which highlights the problem under study; specific scientific methods: retrospective and descriptive-analytical - for the search and processing of sources, systematization and presentation of events; systemic and structural in order to characterize values in the formation of vital reference points of the younger generation. The author presents the classification of values that takes into account interests, beliefs, needs, aspirations and goals of the person.
