  • FIGURE 4. Preserved females (A–C) and males (D–F) of Allobates magnussoni showing variation in dorsal pattern. Note brown background color with a distinct dark-brown hourglass-shaped marking on the anterior dorsal surface consisting of three contiguous sections: the first between the eyes in the form of a bat (all specimens), the second diamond shaped (all specimens), and the third triangular (A–C) or trapezoidal (D–F). Note diffuse dorsolateral stripe extending from behind the eye (A–F). Color of ventral surface is similar among preserved females (G–I) but chest and vocal sacs of males preserved males vary from very light to dark-gray (F=female, M=male, numbers correspond to original field numbers).
