- Running an idealized dry General Circulation Model, Stratospheric Sudden Warmings have been generated and analyzed in Jucker, Fueglistaler, Vallis (2014), JGR 119, 11,054, doi:10.1002/2014JD022170. This is the zonal mean data (geopotential height, zonal wind, temperature) produced by 35 independent simulations using the model.
- Note that the data is packed using the nco (http://nco.sourceforge.net) command ncpdq. It appears that in some cases it is prudent to unpack the data before reading it with analysis software (such as R). To do so, the easiest is to use the ncpdq command in reverse ('ncpdq -U file -O file'). In personal tests, both R's ncdf and cdf4 packages needed the unpacking, Python's netCDF4 package was fine with the data as is.
