- The article is aimed at studying linguistic strategies used to discredit opponents in modern English political discourse and the ways of their rendering into Ukrainian. Such frequent discredit strategies as name calling, implicit estimation, ironic statements and constructing a negative background are examined in socio-historical and cultural context.
