- The actuality of this article is determined by the absence in the modern scientific studies of analysis of intentional and contextual nature of relations of syntactical synonymy with different discourse phenomena among which there is polysemy. The aim of the article is to study semantic and pragmatic relations between syntactical synonymy and polysemy in some co(n)text according to the speaker’s intention. The achievement of our aim supposes the solution of some problems, such as: identification of the status of polysemy and definition of its functional peculiarities in Modern French Fiction; elucidation of the role of co(n)text in forming the relations between the polysemy and the syntactical synonymy; establishment of hierarchy of semantic and pragmatic relations between the syntactical synonymy and global cotextual-contextual polysemy. As the result of analysis it is revealed that mono- and polypredicative utterances with syntactical synonymy have different semantic-pragmatic meanings in the global co(n)text, therefore they are considered as cotextual-contextual polysemic unities.
