- The purpose of our work is to characterize the lyrics of Eduard Bagritsky in he context of his life creative project in the Moscow period of his work. Works of domestic and foreign researchers on the history and theory of life creativity of the late XIX century–beginning of the twentieth century are the material of the study N. Bogomolov, E. Bychkova, O. Weinstein, D. Joffe, A. Kolesnikova, A. Kulagina, Z. Mints, E. Obatnina, I. Yanishevskaya), as well as studies on the poetry and creativity of E. Bagritsky (V. Azarov, I. Bespalova, K. Bugayeva, I. Volgina, I. Grinberg, M. Zagrebelniy, S. Kovalenko, N. Kyakshto, E. Lyubareva, A. Prokhorov, I. Rozhdestvenskaya, M. Spivak, S. Stratanovsky, A. Jacobson). Moving away from the traditional understanding of Bagritsky’s poetry and considering it in the context of the poet’s life creative project, we were able to review the well-established and sometimes erroneous ideas about the role and place of E. Bagritsky’s poetry in literature. Eduard Bagritsky’s piece of work «Poems about poet and romance», which occupies a considerable place in Moscow period of the poet’s creative work, is analyzed in the article. Studying of this poem is essential for correct understanding of the poet’s contemplation after his moving to Moscow. In this verse Eduard Bagritsky shows transfigurations of romance according to social changes that were taking place during Moscow period of the poet’s creative work. The poet confirms once again his loyalty to romance and his readiness to serve it for the sake of people. The poet’s move to the capital did not lead to changes in his life and behavioral strategy, but brought emotional stress and a collision with new realia of post-revolutionary reality. Bagritsky remains faithful to utopian ideals, revealing contradiction between the Ideal and the Real.
