- In the modern world, the interaction of society and nature are among the most acute problems among those facing humanity. At present, rapid economic development leads to a significant increase in the use and, consequently, the depletion of natural resources. This necessitates the search for a new economic model that could break the link between economic growth and the depletion of natural resources. The article attempts to reveal the main features of the circular economy model, its principles and mechanisms of implementation and the essence of successful practices aimed at implementing the idea. Particular attention is paid to the solid household waste management. In the field of waste management, Ukraine is obviously an outsider among European countries, and the state of most landfills and landfills compels us to talk about significant risks to the environment and health of population. Based on the regional analysis of landfills, the potential of recycling waste and the introduction of the basis of the circular economy in the country are emphasized.
