- The purpose of the article is to establish the theoretical bases for the development of the engineering projects at the machine building enterprises as a necessary condition for grounding the purchase of the engineering services by them. The article offers the definition of the engineering project. It also offers to group the kinds of engineering projects. The article offers the general sequence of the project development and implementation process, which provides the possibility to withdraw from the further realization of the process on its different stages. The article defines the main components of the engineering project development and implementation mechanism. The article presents a list of the main components of the engineering project business plan. There have been distinguished and characterized three designing types (including the engineering one): passive, active-passive and active. There have been considered the general and partial criteria for the development of the engineering projects.
