  • The article deals with the cultural and philosophical preconditions of the development of Chinese music education in the 20th century. On the basis of the analysis of scientific and pedagogical sources, it has been proved that the traditional ideas of ancient Chinese philosophical thought influenced the development of musical education, where much attention was paid to harmonious education of a person in unity with nature and society, through musical education in particular. It has been discovered that since the beginning of the 20th century music has played an important role in the humanitarian education of China, playing an important role in the education of children and young people in the system of school and extracurricular education. Based on the analysis of state programs and standards for secondary school students approved by the Ministry of Education of China, it has been established that the purpose of musical education was to create an aesthetic basis for the development of personality, education of students of spiritual qualities and sensitivity to the positive influence of musical art. The main form of school education was choral and vocal singing. In the extracurricular activities was emphasized the development of the creative enthusiasm of schoolchildren in clubs, where they were able to learn playing music instruments and learn how to the play of folk musical instruments in particular. Out-of-school musical education was the center of initial professionalization of students as musicians and singers, providing creative self-realization of children in group and mass forms of musical activity. It is proved that the leading trend in the development of Chinese music education in the twentieth century has become the combination of the traditional national approach, in particular the preservation of the commonalities of the singular culture common to singing in China, the saturation of the contents of education with traditional musical and singer repertoire, the training of the game on national musical instruments, and musical and pedagogical innovations, the core of which is the orientation of musical education to the solution of a new task – development of the child, reorientation of the educational process to choral singing, enrichment of the musical repertoire with world children's and classical works, development of new extracurricular and after-school music education forms for pupils, large-scale cultural and musical events, creation of musical and pedagogical trainings for teachers etc.
