- The article deals with the role of leisure activities in comprehensive development of the personality of the volunteer. The characteristic of the main categories, such as leisure, free time and leisure activities, are analyzed in the article. In order to determine the common and distinctive features of leisure, free time and leisure activities carry out a comparative analysis is performed. The authors define leisure as a specific space for the realization of what is unusual in regulated life, that is, something new, creative, non-standard can be made. Special attention is given to the main functions of leisure activities, such as the recreational, communicative, social, creative, value-orientation, educational and so on, which display the main content and the essence of leisure activities of volunteers. The leisure is characterized by the following specific features: freedom of choice leisure activities, voluntary participation in leisure activities; desire get joy and pleasure; self-sufficiency and self-development; leisure compensations. The research focuses on the main types of leisure activities of volunteers, which promote to comprehensive development of their personality.
