- The purpose of the research is to highlight the theoretical and practical contributions of scientists at the Central Experimental Station of Artifi cial Insemination of farm animals in the improvement of gene pool of domestic breeds. The research is based on the use of a complex of general scientifi c, structural-functional and historical methods. The article has proved their priority in the development of effective methods of intra-breeding selection, in particular the theory of linear breeding, pedigree selection, evaluation of breeding value of farm animals. The experience of the experimental station on the application of the crossing as an effective method of selection of breeding work in cattle breeding has generalized. As one of the achievements of the experimental station author has considered introduction of the basics of informatization of breeding process in livestock breeding. The signifi cance of some perspective development of the research team of experimental station at the present stage of animal husbandry development has substantiated.
