- Purpose: analyze the current state of development of amateur sport in the volleyball example. Material and methods of research: were analyzed figures 39 teams and 433 athletes who participated in the Kharkiv Volleyball Championship among men's teams of the season 2017-2018 years. The analysis of the age of the players and the qualitative composition of the teams in each league separately and as a whole. The following methods of the research were applied in operating time: analysis of scientific and methodical literature, methods of statistical data processing. Results: The study allowed to determine the current state of amateur sport on the example of volleyball. Conclusions: Based on the analysis on volleyball among men's teams of Kharkov championship determined that modern amateur sport – it's mass sports, which can be engaged in athletes of all ages. Since the season 2017-2018 years in the championship was attended by 433 athletes from 39 teams of the city of Kharkiv and Kharkiv region. The average age of players on the team is in a very wide range, from 15 to 49 years. The average age of all athletes who participated in the league is 26.5 years (League 1 – 28, league 2 – 26, league 3 – 25, 4 League – 27). It was established that competition and highest athletic performance has a significant place in amateur sports. So, 1 League Cup really is a powerful group, as evidenced by the qualitative composition of the players. Athletes with title Master of Sports of International Class and Master of Sports of Ukraine is 12% and Candidate for Master of Sports and discharge I – 39% of the total number of participants. In the 2nd league, these figures are much lower, at 2% and 13% respectively. 4 regarding the league, the competition was attended by only players without discharge. Based on the foregoing, it can be assumed that the modern amateur sport – it's a wide sports movement, which can be used at any age to meet their personal interests. Therefore, it can be seen not only in order to achieve high results, but also as a means of sports education. which can be used at any age to meet their personal interests.
