- A new abyssal species of the genus Anthomastus (Octocorallia, Alcyonacea, Alcyoniidae), associated with deep-sea hydrothermal vents off the American Pacific coast, is described and discussed. Comparisons are made between the other deep sea species and all the species from all depths of the Eastern Pacific, belonging to the related genera Anthomastus, Pseudanthomastus and Heteropolypus. Additional data are given on the species A. agassizii, allowing the confirmation of its separation from A. grandiflorus. Bathyalcyon robustum is recorded for the first time from New Caledonia.
