- Pandemic is an epidemic of an infectious disease that is spreading through human populations all over the world. It is estimated, that a morbidity rate during a period of flu pandemic among polish population reaches even 30 per cent. A mortality rate ranges 0,1 to 0,35 per cent. The Polish Pandemic Plan, developed by National Committee on Influenza Pandemic is the answer to the threat of pandemic influenza. It indicates the responsibilities and functions of the particular services in the country in case of the pandemic influenza appearance. Moreover, The Polish Pandemic Plan includes the strategies for specific areas of preparation, as well as guidelines for various types of organizations, which should develop their own plans, taking into account different backgrounds they operate in. The aim of the article is to show the main areas of medical facility management in the case of critical situation, caused by the influenza pandemic. The article presents the possible effects of a pandemic. The main duties of medical centres, which should be performed during crisis management, including the organization of medical services, are also indicated.
