- Boris Sadovskoy (1881 – 1952) is a poet, prose writer, critic and historian of literature. During lifetime he was known as the author of seven poetic collections, several novels, stories, numerous memoirs and diary notes. The purpose of our research is to study the memoirs and responses of contemporaries published in periodicals during lifetime of the author. It will give a chance to understand the reasons of critical evaluations of B. Sadovskoy’s works and also to track evolution in outlook of the writer. The love to old times, commitment to classical tradition, desire to keep and recreate life of the Russian people at imperial Russia were perceived as a revolt against poetics of symbolism and futurism. Having chosen stylization as the main method, B. Sadovskoy tried to rethink history and life of the past, recreating the importance and value of cultural heritage of Russia in a historical retrospective. Only at the end of 1990 his works became an object of a research of literary critics again. The creative heritage of an unfairly forgotten writer demands further studying and has to take its place in the history of literature of the Silver age.
