- The problem of the author and the forms of expression of his consciousness in the text were studied by critics of different generations. Theoretical thought of scientists came from the union of the figure of the writer with the presented form of expression of the author’s consciousness to deny the existence of the author as such. Today there has been a tendency to combine different theories and to create a unified classification of forms of expression of author’s consciousness in the literary text. In the history of Russian and foreign literary studies, there were several approaches to the interpretation of the author’s image in an artistic work. Today all existing views on the problem of the author can be divided into three groups. The first group includes critics who considered the author as an empirical personality, actually a writer with a real biography and a certain outlook (second half of the XIX century). The second position is diametrically opposed to the one indicated and implies complete neglect of the author as the subject of artistic creativity. The third position that has emerged in contemporary literary criticism will unite critics who are trying to create a unified, holistic theory of the author, and seek to identify features of typological similarity in previously considered opposing theories (V.V. Vinogradov – M.M. Bakhtin). Theoretically significant for us was the understanding by the scientist of the unity of consciousness of the narrator (narrator) as a subjective form of expression of the author’s consciousness.
