- The first three analyses constitute an important phase, having as a result the obtaining of a phrase that we cannot say is incorrect in that language, e. g. “Copilul a mâncat bătaie”. It is hard to suppose, of course, that a child can have a “bataie” (“beating”) for his meal, but the problem is solvable from a semantic point of view, because “a mânca bătaie” is a phrasal verb having the meaning of “a fi bătut” (“to be beaten”). (The correct translation of the “Copilul a mâncat bătaie” is “The child has been beaten.”).
