- Abstract - Flood detection system is the system is made by using a water sensor to measure water levels. The ATmega8 microcontroller-based system as the data processors. In the design of the hardware is divided into three parts, namely the inputs, the control part and output part. On the input side there is a water level sensor that functions as a detector when there is danger of flooding. On the controller there is a microcontroller circuit that serves as the main controller of this tool, because this section will process the input from the input to obtain the expected output. In the output section consists of LED indicators, and a buzzer serves as a warning when there is danger of flooding. In the working process, the tool is run with the help of the BASCOM AVR microcontroller program. Program the microcontroller has an important role as a driver of overall system tools work. Keywords: ATMega8, microcontroller, sms gateway, water sensorAbstrak - Sistem deteksi banjir adalah sistem yang dibuat dengan menggunakan sensor air untuk mengukur kadar air. Sistem berbasis mikrokontroler ATmega8 sebagai prosesor data. Pada perancangan perangkat keras terbagi menjadi tiga bagian, yaitu input, bagian kontrol dan output part. Di sisi input ada sensor level air yang berfungsi sebagai detektor bila ada bahaya banjir. Pada controller terdapat rangkaian mikrokontroler yang berfungsi sebagai pengendali utama alat ini, karena bagian ini akan memproses input dari input untuk mendapatkan output yang diharapkan. Pada bagian output terdiri dari indikator LED, dan buzzer berfungsi sebagai peringatan bila ada bahaya banjir. Dalam proses kerja, alat ini dijalankan dengan bantuan program mikrokontroler BASCOM AVR. Program mikrokontroler memiliki peran penting sebagai pendorong keseluruhan alat sistem kerja.Kata kunci: ATMega8, mikrokontroler, sms gateway, water sensor
