- ABSTRACT The aim of the research was to determine the effect of the problem-based learning model to mathematically reasoning ability of class VII SMPN 8 Rambah. This research was a Quasi Experiment with nonequivalen design pretest-posttest design. The variables in this research included the independent variable in the form of problem-based learning model, the dependent variable in the form of mathematical reasoning abilities. The population in this research were all students of class VII SMPN 8 Rambah. The random sampling was used to selecting the sample, so two classes was selected as two the sample is as the experimental class VII and VII.1 as the control class. The instruments in this research was a test. Lilliefors normality test used the test and obtained a second class normal distribution. Test the hypothesis used to be obtained =3,4619, and = 2,1244 with a significance level = 0.025. So between greater than reject H0 and accepted H1 means that concluded that there was influence of Problem Based Learning on the ability of mathematical reasoning seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 8 Rambah year 2015/2016 lesson.
