- Abstract Internship as one of the requirements for notary candidates to be appointed as a notary has a crucial function, so therefore need to gain the attention of many people, especially in this case is a senior notary in order to educate and develop the ability of candidates Notary. This paper aims to examine and analyze the effectiveness of Article 16 Paragraph 1 Letter n Law on Notary in Batu, the Notary accept liability intern candidate notary notary in order to improve the competence of the candidate as well as to examine and analyze the sanctions provided by the Regional Supervisory Council to the Notary notary candidates who do not receive an internship, through legal methods of social research, conducted with the socio-juridical approach. Based on the survey results revealed that the article is not effective application in Batu, which is caused by several factors namely, the substance of the legal factors, legal and cultural structures, while the Regional Supervisory Council can impose sanctions on notary who refuses to accept an internship with reference to the provisions of Article 16, paragraph 11 Law on Notary. Key words: effective, internships, notary Abstrak Magang sebagai salah satu syarat bagi calon notaris untuk dapat diangkat menjadi seorang Notaris memiliki fungsi yang krusial, sehingga karenanya perlu memperoleh perhatian banyak pihak khususnya dalam hal ini adalah Notaris senior dalam rangka mendidik dan mengembangkan kemampuan calon Notaris. Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji dan menganalisis efektivitas Pasal 16 Ayat 1 Huruf n Undang-undang tentang Jabatan Notaris di Kota Batu, mengenai kewajiban Notaris menerima calon notaris magang guna meningkatkan kompetensi calon notaris serta untuk mengkaji dan menganalisis sanksi yang diberikan oleh Majelis Pengawas Daerah kepada Notaris yang tidak menerima calon notaris magang, melalui metode social legal research, yang dilakukan dengan pendekatan yuridis sosiologis. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diketahui bahwa pasal tersebut tidak efektif penerapannya di Kota Batu, yang disebabkan oleh beberapa faktor yakni, faktor substansi hukum, struktur hukum dan budaya, sedangkan Majelis Pengawas Daerah dapat menjatuhkan sanksi kepada Notaris yang menolak menerima magang dengan mengacu pada ketentuan Pasal 16 ayat 11 Undang-undang tentang Jabatan Notaris.
