- People with HIV-AIDS has continually increase, particularly in a big city likes Jakarta. The Government of Special Region of Jakarta establishes a Commission of AIDS Prevention to collaborate with Non-Government Organizations that cares of HIV-AIDS. Bandungwangi is one of Non-Government Organizations in East Jakarta that provides assistance to former prostitutes on the rights of reproductive health and HIV-AIDS prevention. This study aims to examine how Bandungwangi collaborates with the Government of East Jakarta in combating HIV-AIDS. This study used a descriptive qualitative method inwhich data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, documentation, and recording. The informants were selected using purposive method. This study found that a comprehensive collaboration has been carried out between the Commission of AIDS Prevention of Special Region of Jakarta and the Jakarta City in improving public information on HIV-AIDS. The Province Commission of AIDS Prevention and that of East Jakarta City provide health infrastructure and promotion through Communication, Information and Education. Bandungwangi as a program implementer in reaching out and providing assistance to the former prostitutes is quitely successful in preventing and breaking the HIV-AIDS transmission chains. But the results are still not really optimal in intensifying its program because of financially support lack from both the government and the donors.
