  • Blue green algae are aquatic plants that exist naturally in rivers, lakes, damp soil, tree trunks, hot springs and snow habitats. However, a large concentration of blue green algae in water catchments can cause water quality problems such as: color, taste, odor, poisoning, and even death of humans and livestock who consume polluted water, plants, foods and aquatic lives. As regards of the potential harmful of the blue green algae blooms; this paper identifies the blue green algae blooms in water catchments, include: its possible risks and causes, prevention of being happened, and disposal strategies.
