  • Global competitiveness index 4.0 is an index that determines the level of productivity of a country by describing national competitiveness. It is determined based on four factors; environmental capabilities, human capital, markets and innovation ecosystems. In order to improve national competitiveness, it is necessary to improve the quality of vocational schools (SMK) while creating ready-to-work human resources. This study aims to provide an overview and information related to Indonesia's competitiveness and provide recommendations as a material consideration in increasing global competitiveness 4.0 through improving the quality of SMK. Recently, Indonesia's competitiveness index is ranked 45 out of 140 countries with a score index of 64.9, with the quality of vocational training at level 35. Facing these developments, revitalization of SMKs must be carried out thoroughly, starting with the improvement of the vocational curriculum in accordance with future trends, accreditation and certification refereeing to the Indonesian National Work Competency Standards and there is a need to create teacher candidates according to fields, such as agriculture, maritime affairs, creative economy and information technology.
