  • Bioindicator using avertebrata organs were still rare. Fresh water shells withpermanent life, large amount, quite big of size, relatively long life cycle, are able to accumulatepollutant and often consumed by human. Kadmium (Cd) is largely met in natureand constitutes toxic environment pollutant substance and can be accumulated into biotabody. Anodonta woodiana, Lea., constitutes waters biota which can accumulate Cd.The purpose of this research were to get Cd heavy metal pollutant bioindicatorthrough analyses Cd in gill, microanatomy structure, of Anodonta woodiana Researchwas done experimentally by adding heavy metal of Cd to Anodonta woodiana. The shellsamplings which were free from pollution Cd heavy metal was treated in aquarium filledwith well water. Shell were observed on the age of after 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 months andrespectively with Cd level of 1, 5, 10, 15, and 20 ppm. From each treatment, observationincludes gill microanatomy structure, Research results showed that Anodontawoodiana,Lea., can be used as Cd heavy metal pollution bioindicator through the analysesof gill microanatomy structure damage.Key Words: Bioindicator, Anodonta woodiana,Lea, pollution, kadmium, microanatomystructure.
