- The purpose of this study is to describe the language politeness in the speech of Indonesian teachers in giving the reinforcement to the student of first grade in Senior High School 1 Bandar Lampung for 2017 to 2018 academic year. The research method used descriptive qualitative. The result show that there are two responses given by teachers in giving reinforcement, they are positive responses and negative responses. In giving positive responses, teacher obeyed to five maxims of politeness. The aspect that obey the maxim of politeness includes maxim of wisdom, generosity, praise, agreement, and humility. While in giving negative responses, teacher made infringement of wisdom maxim. In addition, there are also explained the pragmatic and linguistic politiness.Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mendeskripsikan kesantunan berbahasa pada tuturan guru bahasa Indonesia dalam memberikan penguatan siswa kelas X SMAN 1 Bandar Lampung tahun pelajaran 2017/2018. Metode penelitian yang digunakan deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukan terdapat dua respon yang diberikan guru dalam memberi penguatan,yakni respon positif dan respon negatif. Dalam memberi respon positif guru mematuhi lima maksim kesantunan. Pematuhan maksim kesantunan yang ditemukan mencakup, maksim kearifan, kedermawanan, pujian,kesepakatan, dan kerendahan hati. sedangkan dalam memberi respon negatif guru melakukan pelanggaran maksim kearifan. Selain itu, ditemukan juga kesantunan pragmatik dan kesantunan lingustik.Kata kunci: Kesantunan berbahasa, penguatan, respon positif, respon negatif
