- Stroke is a clinical syndrome characterized by a focal or global cerebral neurological deficit that results in impaired blood circulation in the brain that can lead to death and permanent disability. This condition is influenced by several irreversible risk factors such as age and gender. While the risk factors that can be changed such as the type of work. This study aims to determine the relationship between the type of work and the type of stroke in neuroscientific from January-April 2017. This research is a descriptive analytic study with a Cross Sectional approach using a total sampling technique that was conducted on 82 stroke patients at the Neurology Clinic of Embung Fatimah Hospital, Batam City in the month of September 2017. Data collection through secondary data by looking at medical record data. The statistical test used is the Chi Square test. The results of the study were from a total sample of 82 stroke patients, most strokes were non-hemorrhagic (85.4%), men (81.7%) aged ≥55 years (78%) and those who worked more using physical exertion (80.5%). ). Based on statistical tests, it is known that there is no significant relationship between the type of work and the type of stroke with p-value = 0.069 (p> 0.05). Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that there is no significant relationship between the type of work and the type of stroke in the Neurology Clinic of Embung Fatimah Hospital, Batam City, January-April 2017 Period.
