  • Basically, every child in the criminal justice process has the right to receive education in accordance with the mandate of Law Number 11 of 2012 on the Child Criminal Justice System. This research discusses about the Implementation of Education for Child Inmates in Child Special Guidance Institutions, which aims to determine legal arrangements, implementation, constraint factors and solutions that may affect the implementation of education for child inmates.This research uses empirical and normative legal research methods. Primary data collection sources were obtained through field studies while secondary data were obtained through library studies. After all data is collected, the data will be processed and analyzed to obtain answers to research problems.The results showed that the legal arrangements for the implementation of education for child inmates in Child Special Guidance Institutions were implemented in accordance with the Child Criminal Justice System Act, which prioritizes education for child inmates. LPKA Class II Batam collaborates with Batam City SKB in implementing the equivalency education program Package A (Elementary School), Package B (Junior High School), and Package C (Senior High School). To empower child prisoners so that they can reintegrate into the community.Based on the results of the research, LPKA Class II Batam officers have tried their best to fulfill the rights to education for child inmates, by synchronizing the educational teaching methods with the coaching process. Although it is still considered not optimal because of Covid-19, it lacks facilities and infrastructure. For this reason, the Head of Class II Batam LPKA can increase cooperation with external parties such as the campus and advocate to the Batam City Education Office and the Riau Islands Ministry of Law and Human Rights to improve the quality of the internet network and provide supporting equipment such as laptops to improve education for the child inmates.
