  • This research was conducted to find out whether Collaborative Strategic Reading (CSR) technique waseffective to improve students’ reading comprehension in analytical exposition text. The research design of this study was experimental research using quasi experimental design which belong to quantitative method. Population of the study was second graders of SMA Negeri 3 Demak in academic year of 2016/2017 with the total number of 352 students. The researcher used a convenience sampling technique and two classes were taken as samples, they were XI MIA 5 as the control class and XI MIA 4 as the experimental class. The instrument of study was test. The researcher conducted pre-test and post-test. The Pre-test was given to both groups before giving treatments. The post-test was given after treatment was done. The data from two tests were scored used SPSS for Windows version 16.0 to analyze the result of pre-test and post-test.The result of t-test showed mean of experimental group in pre-test was 60.97and mean of control group was 68.61. After conducting experiment, the researcher gave post test. The mean score of control group post-test was 71.00 and experimental group was 76.47. t-test calculation shows that the difference was significant. It was indicated by result of post-test was sig. (2-tailed) 0.004 < 0.05. It means that H1 was accepted. It can be concluded that teaching analytical exposition text using Collaborative Strategic Reading (CSR) technique was effective to help improving students’ reading comprehensionin analytical exposition text.
