THE EFFECTIVENESS OF USING PRE-QUESTIONING TECHNIQUE TO IMPROVE STUDENTS’READING COMPREHENSION ( An experimental research of the 8th grade students at SMP FutuhiyyahMranggenDemak in the Academic Year 2015/2016 )

- The purpose of this study was to find out whether the Pre-questioning is effectivetechnique to improve students’ reading comprehensionat the 8th graders of SMP Futuhiyyah Mranggen. This study was conducted in April 2016 in SMP Futuhiyyah Mranggen. The population of this study was the eight gradersof SMPFutuhiyyah Mranggen. The writer took two groups as the sample, they were VIII A as the experimental class and VIII C as the control class. In order to collect the data,the writergave test named pre-test and post-test to the samples. It was given to the samples before and after the treatment.The method used in this research was quantitative method with quasi-experimental research design. The result of the data analysis showed that there was a significant difference between pre-test and post-test in the experimental and control class. It was supported by t-test result,the significant difference in the result of post-test between control and experimental class was 0.000, it was lower than 0.05. It means that the use of Pre-questioning had an impact on reading ability at the students in experimental class. In the end, it could be concluded that H1was accepted. So, learning by using Pre-questioningwas effective to improve students’reading comprehension of the SMP Futuhiyyah Mranggen. Keywords:Pre-questioning, Reading Comprehension.
